- The Heartsaver AED Course teaches the basic techniques of adult and child
CPR and the use of an AED. Students also learn about using barrier devices
during CPR and giving first aid to choking victims. The intended audience
is all lay responders, such as firefighters, police, airline personnel,
security guards, coaches, personal trainers, employees in the workplace,
family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death, other
lay rescuers, and those who may have a need to respond to a cardiac
emergency.

- Heartsaver CPR is designed for the lay person interested in learning how
to assist an adult or pediatric victim in a cardio respiratory emergency.
This course is designed to teach CPR and relief of choking in adults,
children and infants. You will also learn how to use barrier devices for
all ages. This program is a popular choice for the general public wishing
to receive certification (2 years) and for those who have a duty to
respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or
regulatory requirements."

choking to middle or high school students. This course is set up on

- The Heartsaver First Aid Course
- The Heartsaver First Aid Course provides the skills to effectively assess and maintain life from critical minutes immediately following an emergency until the arrival of emergency medical services personnel. The Heartsaver First Aid course consists of six modules. Three are elective. The required modules include General Principles, Medical Emergencies, and Injury Emergencies. An elective module is offered in Environmental Emergencies.

- The Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid Course teaches how to manage illness and injuries in a child in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. Topics include First Aid Basics, Medical Emergencies, Injury Emergencies, and Environmental Emergencies. Chilton Memorial Hospital is accredited by the American Heart Association as a CPR Training Center.

- CPR for Friends and Family
- The Family & Friends CPR course is an entry-level class that teaches you how to perform CPR and how to help a person who is choking. You will learn to perform these techniques on adults, children and infants. The optional First Aid portion teaches how to manage illness and injuries in a child for the first few minutes until professional help arrives. This course is of particular interest to new and expectant parents, relatives, babysitters and seniors. The CPR for Family & Friends program is conducted according to the guidelines of the American Heart Association. Chilton Memorial Hospital is accredited by the American Heart Association as a CPR Training Center.

- BLS Healthcare Provider
- The BLS Healthcare Provider Course is designed to teach the skills of CPR for victims of all ages (including ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, and oxygen); use of an automated external defibrillator (AED); and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO). It is intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a wide variety of settings, including in-hospital and out-of-hospital. For certified or noncertified, licensed or nonlicensed healthcare professionals. The intended audience is healthcare providers, such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician's assistants, residents or fellows, or medical or nursing students in training, aides, medical or nursing assistants, police officers, and other allied health personnel.

- The ACLS Provider Course
- The ACLS Provider Course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and manage the first 10 minutes of an adult ventricular fibrillation/ventricular tachycardia (VF/VT) arrest. Providers are expected to learn and manage 10 core ACLS cases: a respiratory emergency, 4 types of cardiac arrest (simple VF/VT), complex VF/VT, PEA, and asystole), 4 types of prearrest emergencies (bradycardia, stable tachycardia, unstable tachycardia, and acute coronary syndromes), and stroke. The intended audience is personnel staffing emergency, intensive care, or critical care departments; emergency medical providers such as physicians, nurses, emergency technicians, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other professionals who may have a need to respond to a cardiovascular emergency.

The PALS Provider goal is to provide the learner with (1) information needed to recognize infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest; (2) information and strategies needed to prevent cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children; and (3) the cognitive and psychomotor skills needed to resuscitate and stabilize infants and children in respiratory failure, shock, or cardiopulmonary arrest.
