Although breast-feeding is natural, all of our mothers have assistance and education available to them. Chilton Memorial Hospital lactation specialists are available to help new mothers during their stay after giving birth. While all nurses of the hospital's Family Birth Place are qualified to help nursing mothers, lactation specialists have advanced training in breast-feeding support. Their services are available free-of-charge throughout a mother's hospital stay.

Additionally, Chilton Memorial offers outpatient lactation consultations, sells breast pumps , as well as breast-feeding supplies. To determine if a breast pump is necessary and, if so, which type is best, please consult with your physician or lactation specialist.
